Union minister and BJP chief JP Nadda on Thursday trained his guns on the Congress for its “unfiltered hate” towards BR Ambedkar, listing several occasions when the Grand Old Party refused to honour the Father of the Indian Constitution. Nadda’s remarks came amid a bitter standoff between the BJP and Congress over the Constitution in Parliament during which the Opposition relentlessly attacked Home Minister Amit Shah for allegedly insulting Ambedkar.

Taking to social networking site X, the minister said: “Since yesterday, Congress and its ROTTEN eco-system have been EXPOSED by all those who believe in truth, democracy and social justice. So, I thought of sharing some facts to illustrate the deep CONGRESS HATE towards Dr Ambedkar.”

Nadda began by explaining how Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru had “unfiltered hate” towards Ambedkar. “That is why Pandit Nehru got Dr. Ambedkar defeated TWICE. And, he was proudly writing to people overseas, expressing joy that respected Babasaheb was no longer in the Cabinet,” he said.

The Union minister also cited instances of how the Congress refused to build a memorial for Ambedkar despite being in power for several years.

“26, Alipur Road [where Ambedkar breathed his last] should have been converted into a grand memorial that would inspire people long back. But, Dr. AMBEDKAR HATING CONGRESS did nothing. It was our NDA Government which had the honour of developing 26, Alipur Road into an iconic place.”

He added: “Chaitya Bhoomi in Mumbai… For decades, self-proclaimed custodians of social justice in Congress made empty promises of making a grand memorial there. In 2015, we ensured the land transfer was done. It is PM @narendramodi who prayed there twice in recent years.”

Attaching a screenshot of an old tweet by Congress leader Sam Pitroda, Nadda tried to drive home the point that the party had never respected Ambedkar’s contribution to the framing of the Constitution.

“The most loyal courtier of the Dynasty spelt out what the Congress really thinks of Dr. Ambedkar—that he had no role in the making of our Constitution. Some screenshots indeed speak a thousand words. The X post can be deleted but their real feelings will never go,” he said about Pitroda’s post that credited Nehru with contributing more to the Constitution.

Nadda also said: “15, Janpath was supposed to house a world-class centre in memory of Dr. Ambedkar. Tragically, Congress cannot see beyond 1 house on that road so they left this work incomplete. Finally, in 2017 the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre was inaugurated by PM Modi.”

He added: “Congress leaders love spreading lies about India on foreign soil, but they never bothered about a place in London where Dr. Ambedkar himself lived. During PM @narendramodi’s 2015 UK visit, he went there, and subsequently, it was acquired by the Maharashtra Government.”

Nadda concluded his post by saying: “I want to tell the Congress and their ROTTEN ECO-SYSTEM: In June, you LOST the Lok Sabha polls for the third consecutive time. In June, you performed DISMALLY in Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha and Sikkim. In October, you LOST in Haryana. In November, you LOST BADLY in Maharashtra. At least now stop lying…because your lies will not go unchecked. The truth will always win… Jai Bhim!”

Earlier, participating in a discussion on the ‘Glorious Journey of 75 Years of the Constitution of India’, Nadda had attacked the Congress over the Emergency, amendment to the Preamble of the Constitution and also raised the Article 370 issue.
