Amid all the rumours, Ronaldo has hinted at extending his stay in Saudi Arabia. He may sign a new deal with Al Nassr considering the happiness of his family as they have already been settled in the country.
Cristiano Ronaldo seems to have already made up his mind about continuing his spell at Al Nassr despite his current contract with the Saudi Pro League outfit set to expire in the summer of 2025.
The Portuguese superstar joined Al Nassr from Manchester United in 2023, signing a record-breaking £177 million-a-year deal. With only six months left in his contract, speculations were rife about Ronaldo’s future in club football. Many fans reckoned the former Real Madrid man would shift his base to Europe while others remained concerned about the age factor.
Amid all the rumours, Ronaldo has hinted at extending his stay in Saudi Arabia. He may sign a new deal with Al Nassr considering the happiness of his family as they have already been settled in the country.
“I’m happy and my family is happy. We started a new life in this beautiful country. Life is good, football is good. In terms of individual and collective, we are still there. We are still improving,” the five-time Ballon d’Or winner said during an interaction with Saudi Pro League’s official media channels.
Ronaldo seems desperate to win “more titles” with Al Nassr. Since joining the Riyadh-based club, he has lifted just one trophy– the Arab Club Champions Cup in 2023. Now, the 39-year-old forward aims to lead Al Nassr to secure the AFC Champions League title.
“It’s hard to compete with teams like Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad, but we are still there, still pushing and fighting. Football is like that; you have good moments and bad moments. But, for me, the most important thing is to be professional, push hard, respect the club, respect your contract and believe that things will change – for Al Nassr to try to win more titles,” Ronaldo said.
Ronaldo recently added another individual accolade to his decorated cabinet. He was named the Best Middle East Player at the 2024 Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai. In the 2023-24 campaign, Ronaldo shattered the record for the most goals in a single Saudi Pro League season. He struck the net 35 times in 31 appearances. He also registered 11 assists to record the most goal contributions (46) in one season.
