Lionel Messi is reportedly close to agreeing a contract extension with Inter Miami that would keep the Argentina legend in Major League Soccer for at least one more year.
The World Cup winner, 37, joined Inter Miami in the summer of 2023 in a blockbuster move for soccer in the United States.
His existing deal is up at the end of 2025 but, according to The Athletic, Messi is expected to sign an extension.
The new agreement would ensure that Inter’s captain is in Miami when the team moves into its new stadium in 2026.
Messi sent shockwaves around the world when he moved to south Florida to join Inter Miami, which is co-owned by David Beckham.
He has since been joined on the Miami roster by former Barcelona teammates Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets and Luis Suarez.

The 37-year-old led Beckham’s team to its first ever trophy, the 2023 Leagues Cup, just months after arriving Stateside.
Inter Miami currently plays its home games at the 19,100-capacity Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale.
