Liverpool star Alexis Mac Allister has dropped a massive hint on the futures of Mohammed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold. Salah and Trent are currently negotiating a new deal with the Reds as the duo will be out of contract in the summer of 2025. Virgil van Dijk is another player set to sign a contract extension with Liverpool.
Mac Allister recently opened up about the ongoing negotiations and suggested that everyone at the club wanted their biggest stars to stay. “I hope Trent and Virgil can continue with us along with Salah,” he said during an exclusive interview with AS.
Salah has been in top form for Liverpool this season. He has competed in 21 matches across competitions, scoring 15 goals and providing 12 assists. Considering his form, it would be Liverpool’s top priority to keep Salah at the club by offering him a new deal. Mirror Football reported last week that the Egyptian maestro is now on the brink of signing a two-year contract with Liverpool.
In the AS interview, Mac Allister was further asked if he saw Salah staying at Anfield for a few more seasons. The Argentine responded, “Yes. I hope he can stay at Liverpool next year. I want the negotiations to be successful. He seems happy here; he is a legend at the club. It would be ideal if he could finish his career here, but these are very personal decisions and it also depends on the club making its analysis or making a decision.”
Mac Allister also highlighted Alexander-Arnold’s importance to Liverpool. “Alexander-Arnold, for example, is fundamental, as was seen against Manchester City when he returned from injury. His quality is enormous. I have always said that he was criticised for his defensive role, but I have no doubt that he is a difference-maker both in defence and attack. In addition, he is strong and fast, which allows him to find the balance between attack and defence. Like Salah, he is in negotiations and I hope he can continue in the team,” he said.
While Salah and Van Dijk are likely to sign a new deal with Liverpool, Alexander-Arnold has constantly been linked with a move to Real Madrid. The full-back has been instrumental in Liverpool’s dominance in the Premier League this season. Re-signing him will massively boost Liverpool’s title-winning chances.
