International Women’s Day, commemorated annually on March 8, is a global celebration to highlight the importance of women in society, celebrate their achievements and raise awareness about gender disparities. As the world observes this day today, actress Samridhii Shukla, known for playing Abhira in the popular show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, opened up about the women she looks up to and considers them as her inspiration.
During an interview with Pinkvilla, the actress stated, “I mostly look up to my mother. I believe she has a lot of love to share. She is a beautiful human being. She manages everything with a smile on her face while doing a lot for us, which is commendable. Even in the most difficult times, when we were about to question her, she remained positive. I get a lot of inspiration from her.”
Speaking about the growth of the character, Abhira in YRKKH, the actress believes the transformation has already begun and is pleased to be a part of it. “A lot of change has happened. Abhira herself is a very strong character, of course,” she said.
“But being powerful does not imply you are always strong. It signifies that you have changed. Abhira is weak in love; only love or the people you love can make you weak, but they can also bring a lot of strength,” Samridhii continued.
Further talking about her popular character, the actress said, “When it comes to Armaan, her family, her mother, or anyone close to her, she is always ready for a fight. I believe the representation of modern women on television has changed and I am experiencing that change.”
Talking about how Abhira inspires her in real life, Samridhii shared, “She is beautiful, powerful, fierce, and bold in speaking the truth. I get a lot of inspiration from her.”
