Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday repeated the “AAPda (Disaster)” attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), accusing the current Delhi government of derailing the city’s development in the past 10 years.

He exuded confidence in the BJP winning the forthcoming Delhi Assembly elections, scheduled to be held before February 2025. “Have faith that lotus will bloom in Delhi polls,” the PM said.

Addressing a public rally in Delhi’s Rohini, PM Modi said, “The country is showing its trust in BJP. Lotus bloomed in the north-east, and Lotus bloomed in Odisha. Haryana elected BJP for the third time. In Maharashtra, the BJP received a landslide victory. Therefore, I believe that lotus will bloom in Delhi Assembly elections as well.”

PM Modi further noted that the development of Delhi will play a crucial role in achieving the target of Viksit Bharat by 2047. “We need to develop Delhi as the capital of the ‘Viksit Bharat’. Therefore, I have come here to urge people to give BJP one chance,” PM Modi said.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth over Rs 12,200 crore in Delhi today, aiming at improving infrastructure and connectivity in the national capital.

PM Modi Takes ‘Sheeshmahal’ Jibe

In a swipe at AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, PM Modi said that when the people of Delhi were fighting the Covid disease a few years back, others were building “Sheeshmahal,” alluding to the alleged luxurious renovation of the Delhi Chief Minister’s bungalow.

“Today, a big newspaper has revealed the expenditure on ‘Sheesh Mahal’ based on a CAG report. When the people of Delhi were fighting with Covid, they were focused on building ‘Sheesh Mahal’. They are not bothered about the people of Delhi,” the PM said.

He further accused the AAP government of not letting the people of Delhi enjoy the benefits of several central schemes, including the Ayushman Bharat Yojna, a national public health insurance. He assured the people that no public interest scheme would be stopped if the BJP came to power in Delhi.

The Delhi Assembly elections are scheduled to take place before February this year, with all eyes on BJP’s campaigning and AAP’s counter attacks that have already fueled the election season.
