Supporters of Donald Trump on Monday reacted to a threat from a European leader warning him that they were the ones who controlled the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize.
Polish Foreign Minister RadosÅ‚aw Sikorski spoke about Trump’s attempts to achieve a peace between Russia and Ukraine, at the Munich Security summit.Â
Sikorski warned Trump not to give too much deference to Russia during the peace negotiations to end the war.Â
‘I would tell him him that we Europeans control the Nobel Peace Prize,’ Sikorski said with a chuckle. ‘If you want to earn it, the peace has to be fair.’
Sikorski’s comment earned him loud applause from the diplomats and political figures in the room. Â
He also reminded Trump that former President Joe Biden had planted a flag of the United States in downtown Kiev, vowing to stay with Ukraine ‘long as it takes’ until it regained it’s independence.Â
‘The credibility of the United States depends on how this war ends, not just the Trump administration the United States itself,’ he said. Â
But Sikorski’s comment only enraged Trump supporters, who mocked the historically prestigious award as biased and meaningless after video of his remarks went viral.Â

Nobel Peace Prize laureate U.S. President Barack Obama poses with his diploma and medal after receiving the prize at the award ceremony in Oslo City Hall December 10, 2009.
Many Trump supporters pointed out that the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to President Barack Obama when he was first elected president – even though he had not acted in a significant way to bring about peace in war torn countries. Â
‘When they gave the Nobel Peace Prize to Obama I knew the whole thing was a scam,’ Fox weekend cohost Rachel Campos-Duffy wrote on X in reaction to video of Sikorski’s remarks.Â
‘Excuse my French but who gives a s**t about the Nobel Peace Prize anymore?’ wrote former CBS reporter Lara Logan on X.
Nobel Committee Secretary Geir Lundestad later admitted it was a mistake to award Obama the prize in 2009.
‘Even many of Obama’s supporters believed that the prize was a mistake,’ he wrote in his 2015 book. ‘In that sense the committee didn’t achieve what it had hoped for.’Â
Other Trump supporters described European leaders as intentionally trying to prevent peace in Ukraine.  Â

President Donald Trump has voiced his support for a peace deal to end the Russian war in UkraineÂ
‘The Euro globalists really saw Orwell’s 1984 as a guidebook. Now they’re doing ‘War is peace’ by making it very clear that they will give the Nobel Peace Prize if Trump continues the war in Ukraine but will NOT give it to him if he negotiates a peace deal,’ wrote activist Robby Starbuck. ‘They’re truly evil.’
Some Trump supporters noted that the Nobel Prize was awarded to the Chairman of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Yasser Arafat, despite his failure to meet his commitments to peace.Â
‘The illustrious Nobel Peace Prize,’ wrote lawyer Viva Frei on X, sharing an image of Arafat with a laughing emoji.Â
Trump and Russian officials are expected to begin peace talks with Russia on Tuesday in Saudi Arabia, despite concerns from European leaders that they have been sidelined.
The talks are expected to open a path to a meeting between Putin and Trump to make a deal.
