Magha Gupt Navratri 2025 Date and Time: The nine days of Magha Navratri, also called Gupt Navratri, are devoted to the nine forms of the goddess Shakti.

2025 Magh Gupta Navratri Ghatasthapana: Navratri is one of the most auspicious days in the Hindu religion where devotees seek the blessings of the nine forms of Goddess Durga. Navratri takes place four times a year. While Chaitra Navratri and Shardiya Navratri are famous, the other two are hidden and thus known as Gupta Navratri. They fall between the Magha and Ashada months. This year, the Magha Navratri will begin on January 30.

The nine days of Magha Navratri, also called Gupta Navratri, are devoted to the nine forms of the goddess Shakti. It occurs in January or February. It is mainly observed in Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, and is less well-known in other states.

Devotees perform various rituals over these nine days and nights to obtain Goddess Durga’s blessings. They recite Vedic mantras and follow rigorous fasting to call upon the deity’s presence. The puja rituals also include getting up early, cleaning the home, dressing traditionally, and arranging the Goddess images on the altar.

Below is a summary of the days and the customs that go along with them:

Navratri Day 1 (Thursday, January 30) Pratipada

The first day of Navratri symbolises the installation of the Ghata (holy pot) as well as the start of the fast. Devotees pray to Goddess Shailputri, the first manifestation of Goddess Durga, who represents purity and strength.

Ritual: On the first day, the Ghatasthapana and Shailputri Puja will be held.

Navratri Day 2 (Friday, January 31, 2025) Dwitiya

Goddess Brahmacharini is worshipped on the second day. She represents asceticism and self-control. In order to find serenity and spiritual enlightenment, devotees seek her blessings.

Ritual: On the second day, the Brahmacharini Puja will take place.

Navratri Day 3 (Saturday, February 1, 2025) Tritiya

On the third day, people worship the goddess Chandraghanta. Her followers are said to receive courage, strength, and protection from her.

Ritual: The Chandraghanta Puja will be observed by devotees.

Navratri Day 4 (Sunday, February 2, 2025) Chaturthi

Goddess Skandamata, the mother of Lord Kartikeya, and Goddess Kushmanda, the creator of the universe, are honoured on this day. Devotees offer prayers for health and the ability to overcome obstacles.

Ritual: On this day, the Kushmanda Puja and Skandamata Puja will take place.

Navratri Day 5 (Monday, February 3, 2025) Shashthi

Durga’s warrior avatar, Goddess Katyayani, is worshipped on the fifth day. Devotees engage in prayers for inner strength, prosperity, and defence against bad powers on this day.

Ritual: People observing the 9-day Navratri will take part in the Katyayani Puja.

Navratri Day 6 (Tuesday, February 4, 2025) Saptami

The sixth day is devoted to Goddess Kalaratri, who is known for annihilating negativity and darkness. It is thought that worshipping her will bring serenity and eliminate all barriers.

Ritual: The Kalaratri Puja is scheduled to take place on this day.

Navratri Day 7 (Wednesday, February 5, 2025) Ashtami

Ritual: On this day, a total of three pujas will be held which are Durga Ashtami, Mahagauri Puja, and Sandhi Puja.

Magha Durgashtami – The Tithi will begin at 02:30 AM on February 05 and end at 12:35 AM on February 06.

Magha Sandhi Puja – The Muhurat is from 12:11 AM to 12:59 AM on February 6. In addition, the Sandhi Puja begins at 12:11 AM and ends at 12:59 AM (This is a potent moment to call upon Durga’s celestial blessings).

One of the most auspicious days of Navratri is Ashtami, when people celebrate Goddess Durga’s triumph over demons. Mahagauri Puja, which represents virtue and purity, is performed by devotees.

Navratri Day 8 (Thursday, February 6, 2025) Navami

Goddess Siddhidatri, who bestows success and wisdom, is honoured on the eighth day. The nine-day devotional journey is almost over on this day.

Ritual: On the second last day of Navratri, devotees observe Siddhidatri Puja.

Navratri Day 9 (Friday, February 7, 2025) Dashami

Devotees break their fast and pray to Goddess Durga on the last day of Magha Gupta Navratri, which is observed with great devotion. The festival’s conclusion and the veneration of the goddess’ nine forms are symbolised by the performance of the Navratri Parana.

Ritual: Devotees will observe the Magha Gupta Navratri Parana. As per Dirk Panchang, the Shub timings for it would be after 07:06 AM. The Tithi on this day begins at 12:35 AM and ends at 10:53 PM.
