Millions of people from across the country and around the world have gathered for the Maha Kumbh Mela in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj. After the holy dip, many devotees bring Gangajalto their homes. Keeping Gangajal in the house is believed to remove all kinds of troubles, alleviate Vastu defects, and ward off negative energy. It is said to increase the flow of positive energy, bring happiness into the household, and is used in every auspicious occasion.
Gangajal is also required for worship at home, in shops, factories, and other places. In Hinduism, Gangajal is considered extremely sacred. If you’ve brought Gangajal from the Maha Kumbh, here are some important guidelines to follow to preserve its purity and sanctity in your home:
- Avoid Meat and Alcohol: Consuming meat or alcohol in the house where Gangajal is kept can cause Graha Dosh, leading to serious consequences.
- Proper Storage: Storing Gangajal in plastic containers is considered impure. It should be kept in utensils made of copper, brass, or aluminium for purity.
- Use Silver Utensils: If you store Gangajal in a silver vessel and place it in the temple area of your home, it is said to strengthen your mental state. It also brings favourable results from the Moon in your birth chart and helps you overcome mental health issues.
- Sprinkle Gangajal for Protection: Sprinkling Gangajal around your home every day can protect you from the evil eye, Vastu defects, and negative forces. Sprinkling it at the main door also attracts positive energy and purifies the house.
- Respect Before Use: Always bow to Gangajal before using it. If it accidentally falls on the ground, it should be cleaned with your hands and applied to your forehead as a sign of respect.
