Maharashtra New CM: The name of the new Maharashtra Chief Minister is likely to be announced following the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislature party meeting at Vidhan Bhawan today (Wednesday, December 4) where the party will select its leader.

The meeting, scheduled for Wednesday morning, comes a day after the state’s Caretaker Chief Minister and Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde finally agreed to take up the Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister post on Tuesday.

Sources suggest that the Mahayuti allies – Shiv Sena, NCP, and BJP – may engage in a tussle over ministerial portfolios. It’s expected that both the Shinde Sena and Ajit Pawar’s NCP faction will secure a Deputy Chief Minister position.

The deadlock within the Mahayuti allies regarding the top post appears to have ended after BJP leader and likely Chief Minister-elect Devendra Fadnavis met Shinde at his official residence, ‘Varsha’ in Mumbai, on Tuesday evening. The meeting reportedly lasted for an hour.

This marked the first face-to-face interaction between the two leaders since they, along with NCP chief Ajit Pawar, met with top BJP leadership in Delhi last week.

Shinde’s sudden “illness” and his unplanned trip to his hometown in Satara last week raised questions, especially after his discussions with the BJP leadership in Delhi. His unexpected departure disrupted an important Mahayuti meeting scheduled over the weekend to finalize a power-sharing arrangement.

However, the Shinde camp has dismissed these speculations as rumors, insisting that the caretaker CM is not insistent on the top position.

Here’s What To Expect Today

According to sources, key alliance partner BJP’s core committee observers, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, will hold a party meeting at 10 am. Following this, they’ll chair the legislative party meeting at 11 am where they elect the party’s leader.

Post this, the Mahayuti alliance is likely to reveal the new head of the state’s name. Then the CM-elect and deputy CMs-elect will meet Governor CP Radhakrishnan to state claim to form the government.

Grand Plans For Swearing-In Tomorrow

Preparations are going on in full swing for the swearing-in ceremony in Mumbai’s Azad Maidan tomorrow (December 5). According to sources, only the CM, and both deputies with take oath. CMs of all NDA-ruled states have been invited to the event.

A huge number of women guests are expected as a gesture to thank them for the Ladki Behan Scheme.

The ‘Ek Hain Toh Safe Hain’ slogan will be the dominant theme, with the slogan printed on t-shirts and banners. PM Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President JP Nadda, and other key BJP leaders will be attending the event.
