In Maharashtra, the voter turnout this time stood at 66.05%, up from 61.1% in 2019. The majority mark in the 288-seat Maharashtra Assembly is 145. While most exit polls had predicted victory for the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance, three suggested that neither the Mahayuti nor the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) would secure a decisive majority to form the next government in Maharashtra.

Even as counting is underway, the opposition MVA has collected letters of support from more than 160 candidates and some Independents, pledging their support for the alliance to form the Maharashtra government if it is voted to power.

Jharkhand, meanwhile, witnessed a fierce electoral battle between the ruling JMM-led INDIA bloc and the BJP-led NDA. While some exit polls had predicted that the BJP-led NDA would likely oust the ruling JMM-led coalition, others forecast the return of the INDIA bloc.
