Luke Shaw was spotted with Man United’s squad ahead of Sunday’s Manchester derby, as he nears a return from his long-term injury.
Shaw hasn’t started a game for United for over a year due to a succession of muscle injuries, and has only made three appearances as a substitute under new head coach Ruben Amorim.
His last start for the Red Devils came against Luton in February 2024, while he last suited up for them when he came off the bench against Everton in December.
It is unlikely that Shaw will start for United against City, as Patrick Dorgu has put in some strong showings at left back in his absence.
Not to mention, the England international has a deep history of suffering long-term non-contact injuries, so to rush him back into action as a starter would be befuddling.
United took to social media to celebrate the return of their star left back, as they wrote on X: ‘Great to see you back with the group,’ above a photo of Shaw.

Meanwhile, Amorim offered updates on the injury status on some other stars ahead of Sunday’s game, including Mason Mount and Kobbie Mainoo.
‘Yes, he can start, but we have to manage his minutes still,’ the Portuguese boss revealed when asked about Mount featuring at Old Trafford on Sunday.
On the other hand, Mainoo is some way away from returning to the starting XI, after missing the last two months with a muscle injury.
Amorim added: ‘I think Kobbie is returning to training, so we’ll see and assess for this game already. Of course, he cannot play a full game, he’s a long time without training.’
