The Winter Carnival will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on January 2, 2025, and will conclude on January 6, 2025
Preparations for the Winter Carnival 2025 have begun in the tourist city of Manali in Himachal Pradesh. As in previous years, this grand event is expected to attract thousands of tourists from across the globe. The carnival will take place from January 2 to January 6, 2025. A meeting chaired by MLA Bhuvneshwar Gaur was recently held to discuss the cultural and organisational aspects of the carnival.
After the meeting, the MLA announced that the 13th Winter Carnival, also known as the National Sharadotsav, will be celebrated with great enthusiasm. Highlights of the carnival will include performances by artists from various states, the Winter Queen competition, and Voice of Carnival. Artists from different districts of Himachal Pradesh will also showcase their talent daily, drawing attention to the rich cultural heritage of the region.
MLA Bhuvneshwar also mentioned that Mahila Mandals will play a significant role in the carnival this year too. Women will participate in several events. Sports competitions, including volleyball, basketball, and tug-of-war, will also be held. Committees have been formed to ensure the smooth execution of events, with strict instructions for timely completion of all preparations.
To enhance income generation for the carnival, a Tambola game will commence in December. Additional plot allocations will also be made at the bus stand and Nehru Park. Last year, approximately Rs 1.2 crore was spent on the carnival.
This year, the Winter Carnival will adopt a fresh approach. Starting December 25, a series of events will be held from Christmas to New Year, giving tourists a deeper insight into the cultural heritage of the Kullu district and the state of Himachal Pradesh. Mall Road will be adorned with colourful lights, and a stage will be set up to host vibrant cultural programmes daily.
The Winter Carnival will be inaugurated on January 2, 2025 by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. According to MLA Bhuvneshwar Gaur, the main goal of the carnival is to promote tourism in Manali and the Kullu district. Future changes will be considered based on public feedback to encourage greater participation from villagers.
Auditions To Begin Soon
Auditions for the Winter Queen and Voice of Carnival, two of the event’s main attractions, will be held within the state and beyond. This year’s edition will also feature Mahanati performances, tableau presentations by women, and a traditional costume fashion show by members of the Mahila Mandals. If snowfall occurs during this time, winter sports will also be organised, adding an exciting dimension to the event.
