Manchester City officially announced the signing of Egyptian forward from Eintracht Frankfurt on a four-and-a-half-year deal, keeping him at the Etihad till 2029, on Thursday.
One of the most coveted young forwards operating in Europe currently, Marmoush has been brought in to offer assistance to Erling Haaland in the attacking unit.
The Egyptian can be expected to fill in the void left after Argentine World Cup winner Julian Alvarez’s departure last August to Atletico Madrid for £81 million.
Marmoush has been in fine form in recent times, netting 15 goals so far in this season’s Bundesliga for Frankfurt, trailing only Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane by one goal.
“This is a day I will never forget,” Marmoush said.
“To sign for Manchester City – one of the best teams in the world – is an amazing feeling. I am delighted, my family are so proud, and we are all very happy to be here in Manchester.
“With Pep, his technical staff and the world-class facilities here, players have everything they need to improve. That was really enticing for me when I had the chance to come here.
“And I cannot deny I also want to win trophies. City have been the most successful club in England for many, many years, so I know I am joining a winning environment and winning culture. I want to learn from the staff and my teammates, and I want to become a valued member of this winning team.”
An accomplished Egyptian international with 35 caps to his name to date, Marmoush made his professional bow back in his Egyptian homeland as a 17-year-old in 2016 with Wadi Degla.
After amassing 17 appearances and two goals for Wadi, Marmoush subsequently made the move to Europe in 2017, joining VF Wolfsburg before then making a switch to Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer of 2023.
Manchester City had to endure a torrid outing this season. In the Premier League, they have had to concede six defeats so far. They had even had to deal with a seven-match winless streak across all competitions this season.
Pep Guardiola’s men now find themselves in the fifth spot in the PL standings with 38 points, trailing league leaders and rivals Liverpool, who have a game in hand, by 12 points.
