Not a day goes by without Manchester United being linked to a high-profile name during the transfer window.
The latest to emerge is Gianluigi Donnarumma, Paris Saint-Germain’s first-choice goalkeeper and a mainstay for the Italian national team.
So far this summer, the Red Devils have added Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Diego Leon to their ranks. But with the transfer window still open, INEOS are reportedly pushing for three more additions: a striker, a defensive midfielder, and a goalkeeper.
Among the names under serious consideration for the goalkeeper role is Donnarumma, 26, who has established himself as one of the world’s top shot-stoppers.
United are not only seeking competition for André Onana, but are also open to a possible long-term replacement.
According to The Sun, Donnarumma has emerged as a priority target, though the Italian’s price tag could reach €60 million, even with his contract at PSG set to expire in 2026. Interest from several top European clubs could further complicate any potential move.
In contrast, TalkSPORT reports that Nick Pope of Newcastle United is also on United’s shortlist. At 33, Pope is seen as more of a short-term solution. Newcastle, meanwhile, are eyeing Aaron Ramsdale of Southampton, potentially clearing the way for Pope’s exit.
Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has also weighed in, revealing that no formal contact has been made between United and Donnarumma’s camp at this stage.
While the club remains in the market for a goalkeeper, Romano emphasized that United are unwilling to be drawn into a bidding war, and will only proceed if the deal is financially viable.
PSG Open to Selling?
With contract extension talks stalling in Paris, PSG are reportedly open to selling Donnarumma to avoid the risk of losing him on a free transfer in 2026.
As speculation builds, Manchester United appear to be monitoring the situation closely.
