Married At First Sight’s Jacqui Burfoot claims she’s ‘unable to work’ as a lawyer after her controversial edit on the show gave her ‘post traumatic stress disorder’

Married At First Sight’s Jacqui Burfoot has sensationally claimed she cannot return to her job as a lawyer after appearing on the Channel Nine dating show.

The controversial bride, 29, claims the show has left her ‘mentally distressed’ and ‘unable to work’ at her high-end New South Wales law firm after she received a controversial edit on the series.

‘I’ve been unable to continue my career…’ she told SkyNews on Thursday, adding she has been left to fend on her own now that filming on the season has wrapped.

Jacqui, who is said to have a double degree in law and finance, went on to say that her mental wellbeing was a large factor in her decision to not return to the office.

‘I wasn’t medically capable of performing my duties because I was under so much mental distress and trauma,’ she said.

‘I guess I had post-traumatic stress disorder from the show, and I couldn’t function at work.’

Jacqui has had her fair share of bad publicity while on the show.

She was recently caught the attention of fans when eagle-eyed viewers noticed snot in her nose during a scene with husband Ryan Donnelly, 36.

Fans took to social media to ask why producers didn’t let the blonde bride know or get her to blow her nose.

‘Jacqui has a boogie in her right nostril,’ one fan posted.

‘Snorted when l read this. A booger lol,’ another commented, as a third added, ‘Hahahaha I saw it too. Why don’t the camera operators tell about those things.’

A few weeks prior, social media users slammed the bride for ‘fake crying’ after she had an emotional breakdown on screen without shedding a tear.

The scene showed Jacqui wailing and dabbing at her face with a tissue, leaving many fans on social media platform X amused.

‘Here Jacqui, have a tissue for no reason at all….’ joked one person while another said, ‘Jacqui got her acting skills from TEMU’.

A few weeks prior, social media users slammed the bride for ‘fake crying’

‘Jacqui should stop worrying about Ryan’s gym etiquette & make an eye duct appointment pronto’ someone else said.

‘Jacqui went from Crying to Happy quick didn’t she…it’s almost like she was never upset!’ one more wrote.

She responded to the ‘fake crying’ claims in a video shared to social media, saying that footage of her with tears in her eyes had been removed in the editing suite.

‘Often if I am crying, I will be doing so for like five minutes. But they are editing it, so they have the start and end of me crying,’ Jacqui told fans.

‘But they cut out the actual crying in the middle, where the tears come out. You can often see I am crying because I end up with mascara on my face. That’s just the editing, they just do the start and end, not the middle.’

Jacqui added she had filmed footage on her phone of her weeping and would consider releasing it as proof the tears were genuine.

The reality star has since made headlines for her relationship with fellow participant Clint Rice, 43, and her claims that her TV husband Ryan ‘controlled’ and ‘abused’ her on the show.
