Mawra Hocane’s mehendi outfit is a fresh take on Khushi Kapoor’s Diwali dress.
Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane tied the knot with actor Ameer Gilani on 5 February 2025 in a traditional Muslim wedding in Lahore. The Sanam Teri Kasam fame actress took to her Instagram handle and shared a series of breathtaking photos of her wedding. Mawra wore a stunning yellow sharara and an embroidered purple dupatta for her Mehendi ceremony. Designed by Manish Malhotra, Mawra’s traditional outfit is a fresh take on Khushi Kapoor’s Diwali dress with a colour twist. Let’s dive into the parallels.
Mawra posted lovely photos with family and friends from her Mehendi ceremony. She chose a stunning mustard-coloured gharara set with an embroidered design in gold. The actress wore a flared gharara with a short frock-style kurta. Her double-dupatta style was the highlight of her outfit. She paired the ensemble with a classic purple and gold and a vibrant magenta dupatta. Her traditional outfit resembled a perfect bridal style. She completed her dress with gold jewellery and a low-key makeup application.
On the other hand, Khushi Kapoor wore the same sharara set for the Diwali celebration with different shades. She paired a dark blue sharara set with golden embroidery for Diwali puja in 2020. Her flared sharara with a short frock-style kurta resembles Mawra’s mehendi outfits.

She added minimal accessories like a choker necklace and a beautiful ring to complete her overall look. Mawara added a different shade of dupatta to make it ideal for the mehendi celebration, however, Khushi didn’t do any experiments and went with the same colour dupatta. There’s no doubt that both actresses slayed this gorgeous outfit for different occasions.
Moving on, Mawra wore a pastel-toned lehenga from Rano’s Heirlooms for her nikah ceremony. Although the outfit had a pastel colour shade, the rich pink chatta patti embroidery and purple borders provided a unique touch. Pink floral embroidery was used to accent the gota and zari pieces. Mawra paired this lehenga with a dainty gota, a mint green dupatta, and a top-styled choli.
She added more than a half-century-old jewellery to complete her look. Her jewels included a golden haar with emeralds, Maang Teeka, rings, Jhoomar and matching earrings, which belonged to Ameer’s grandmother.
