Melrose Place icon Courtney Thorne-Smith files for divorce after 18 years of marriage

Actress Courtney Thorne-Smith has officially filed for divorce from her husband Roger Fishman, nearly four years after their reported separation.

According to court documents filed earlier this week, per TMZ, Thorne-Smith, 56, is citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.

She submitted the paperwork without legal representation and listed their date of separation as September 1, 2021 — suggesting the couple has been living apart for quite some time.

DailyMail.com has not received a response to its request for comment from Thorne-Smith’s reps.

Thorne-Smith and Fishman married on January 1, 2007, and welcomed their only child, Jacob Emerson Fishman, the following year.

Now 17, Jacob is nearing adulthood, but the Melrose Place star is requesting joint legal and physical custody as part of the divorce proceedings, according to the outlet.

In the filing, Thorne-Smith also asked the court to terminate its ability to award spousal support to either party.

This marks the actress’s second marriage.

She was previously wed to geneticist Andrew Conrad from 2000 to 2001 and famously dated her Melrose Place co-star Andrew Shue during the 1990s.

Thorne-Smith quietly tied the knot with Hollywood marketing executive Fishman in a top-secret New Year’s Day wedding.

The ultra-private ceremony was so under the radar, even the actress’s parents and closest friends were left off the guest list.

‘They filed for a sealed license, which in California is as simple as requesting an unlisted phone number,’ a friend of Thorne-Smith explained at the time to OK.

It marked the second marriage for the According to Jim actress, who was previously wed to genetic scientist Conrad.

That union ended in divorce just as her wedding photos hit newsstands on the cover of a bridal magazine.

‘Courtney was determined to get it right this time,’ the insider added at the time.

‘She and Roger have a deep connection and a shared passion for travel—they actually met at an airport.’

Her rep, Jim Boutman, confirmed the marriage and described the ceremony as ‘a private celebration with one close friend and their dogs in attendance.’
