Meta smart glasses are now getting premium upgrades like longer battery life, high-res camera for videos but a pricey product too

Meta has launched its premium smart glasses with longer battery life

Meta Ray Ban smart glasses have been hit in the market, which has made the brand launch it in countries in India. And now, Meta has a new partner for its AI smart glasses and these new ones are not only sportier but costlier as well. Meta has joined hands with Oakley to make sport-centric smart glasses that feature a high-res camera, much louder speakers and yes the Meta AI supported on your face.

Meta Oakley Smart Glasses Price

The new Meta Oakley smart glasses are priced at $499 (Rs 40,000 approx) and will be available for pre-order from July 11 onwards in the US. The Ray Ban smart glasses come for around $250 (Rs 22,000 approx) which makes these new glasses almost double of the first-gen model. Meta does plan to sell these in countries like India but later this year.

Meta Oakley Smart Glasses Features

Oakley primarily makes products targeting sports people and athletes and these smart glasses have the same audience in mind. Meta claims the high-res camera lets you shoot videos hands-free and play the audio with the help of the open-ear speakers. The glasses do come with IPX4 rating which gives it some level of water resistance.

The biggest upgrade comes in the usage time, which Meta claims these glasses can run up to 8 hours in regular use. The camera supports 3K video resolution for recording and the battery supports fast charging.

Going High On Price

Meta is also reportedly eyeing more branded deals to make newer versions of the smart glasses. The company has tasted success with its first model and the Oakley version and the rumoured Prada-branded glasses will help the company show its ambitions in the premium market. Meta AI will be at the centre of its smartness and having these combined with longer standby time should appeal to more people.

Meta will also have some tough fight on its hands with Google lining up similar AI glasses with Android XR, Apple also plans to have products in the segment and Snap is launching its own Specs glasses soon.
