The couple marked their 31st wedding anniversary on November 13.
The duo were introduced by Pfeiffer’s best friend, who set them up on a blind date in 1993.
While appearing on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon in 2022, Michelle recalled feeling apprehensive before the meeting.
‘I was kind of nervous. I’d had a couple of bad blind dates and I had sworn [them off] and my best friend said, “Please, just this last time, meet this guy, David Kelley,” and I said, “Okay,”‘ she shared.
Continuing the anecdote, she added, ‘I thought it was a good idea to do a bowling party. So we all met for dinner before, which was the awkward part, probably. I think the bowling part was OK.’
Pfeiffer told the Fallon and the audience that her future husband sat across from her sister DeDee Pfeiffer and she sat across from his best friend.
‘He and my sister were just chatting it up because she’s very charming and really good socially. I’m not so good. And he’s a little bit shy — we’re both a bit shy,’ she went on.
Pfeiffer said she turned to her best friend and said, ‘I think I should set DeDee up with him. They seem to be really hitting it off.’

‘We hadn’t spoken two words. I don’t know how she thought that, but it didn’t start off great,’ the silver screen siren added.
