Microsoft is joining the techtember this month with its own AI event

Microsoft seems ready to enter the Copilot 2.0 phase with a new rebranded version likely to be announced along with other AI updates.

Microsoft has announced a special Microsoft 365 Copilot Wave 2 event on September 16. According to The Verge, the event will highlight “the next phase of Copilot innovation.” Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and Vice President of AI at Work, Jared Spataro, will lead the presentation, which will be live-streamed on LinkedIn at 8:30 PM IST.

According to the report, the tech giant is expected to rebrand many of its services at the event. For instance, Copilot in Word may be renamed to Microsoft 365 Copilot in Word, and Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365 could be rebranded as Microsoft 365 Copilot.

Apart from this, the company is also expected to unveil new Copilot features for Microsoft 365. With these features, the company aims to lure more businesses to sign up at the $30 per user per month pricing.

Customers might also see new features introduced to the Copilot Pro, the company’s consumer subscription for its AI offerings at the event. Similar to the business-focused membership, the $20 monthly subscription gives the users access to Word’s Copilot features, however, not many new features have been added since its introduction earlier this year.

In other news, Microsoft has also announced that their new Windows AI features will start arriving in the Intel and AMD laptops in November 2024. Until now, the Copilot Plus features were limited to Qualcomm-powered devices.

These features include Auto Super Resolution, a DLSS Competitor, Live Captions that can translate speech, Windows Studio Effects and Cocreator among others.

According to the company, devices packing the new Intel Core Ultra 200V and AMD Ryzen AI chips and running the latest version of Windows will receive Copilot Plus PC features as a free update starting in November.

Initially, select features will be available on all devices, while others will only be available in Windows Insider testing before becoming widely available to more users.
