Chaix, who possessed property in his hometown worth an estimated Rs 21.5 crore, bequeathed his entire estate to the village. The announcement, made by Tourrettes mayor Camille Boz on a French news station, stunned residents. However, the mayor revealed that Chaix’s generosity came with a strict stipulation that the village must follow.
In his will, Marcelin bequeathed his property to the village, stipulating that no profit should be derived from it and that it should be used solely for social work. He left no heirs. Villagers expressed no surprise at this benevolent gesture, noting Marcelin’s lifelong kindness and generosity.
