At just 23, Nandini Gupta has captured the nation’s attention as she represents India at the 72nd Miss World pageant currently taking place in Hyderabad.
Nandini’s story isn’t one of privilege or glamour, but of grit and grounded values. Growing up in a humble farming family, her roots run deep in Rajasthani soil. “My father, Sumit, is a farmer and my mother, Rekha, supports him in organic farming,” she shared in an interview with Rediff. Her childhood was spent with her younger sister and uncle, in a home where love and strength shaped her far more than appearances.
There’s one memory that has stayed with her—a moment of quiet pride she carries even today. “When people would ask if we had a brother, my mother would always say, ‘Nahi, yehi mere do Anmol Ratan hai.’” That simple declaration left a lifelong impression. “I always try to be the ratan—her jewel—so she can feel proud of me,” says Nandini.
That spirit carried her from the lanes of Kota to the spotlight of Miss India 2023, where she claimed the crown. But her victory didn’t come without resistance. Convincing her parents to let her move to Mumbai and chase her dream wasn’t easy. Like many Indian families, theirs came with conditions—education first, dreams second. Nandini honored both.
Now, she’s standing tall on a global platform—not just as a model of beauty, but as a symbol of ambition, humility, and tradition. For Nandini, the Miss World stage isn’t just about a crown; it’s about fulfilling a promise to her parents, honoring her roots, and inspiring young women across India to dream bigger.
