Mohamed Salah has dropped a bombshell update about his contract situation at Liverpool. The Egyptian maestro has constantly been linked with a move away from Anfield next season and it now seems like Salah could be on his way out after all. Following Liverpool’s 5-0 win over West Ham United on December 29, Sky Sports asked Salah if he was any closer to sharing a positive update on a new deal with The Reds. Salah, however, claimed that both parties were still ‘far’ from reaching a contract agreement. “We are far away from that,” he said.

Mohammed Salah was in top form during Liverpool’s dominant win against West Ham at the London Stadium. The Egyptian attacker assisted twice on the night while scoring in the 44th minute to continue his stellar individual run. Following the match, Salah was also asked about how he continued improving on the pitch to which the Egyptian replied that he was just trying to enjoy the sport. “I am just trying to enjoy the game,” he added. Speaking about his performance against West Ham, Salah said, “I was a bit disappointed with some of the shots I missed today but I came here for the result. I am always hungry for more. Hopefully next time I will score more but the most important is that the team won.”

The primary objective for Mohammed Salah’s mind is to win the Premier League this season. Talking about the prospect of winning his second league title at the club, he said, “The only thing in my mind is that I want Liverpool to win the league and I want to be part of it. I will do my best to win the trophy.” He also emphasised how the team must stay humble and consistent to reach their goal. “We are in the right direction but there are other teams trying to catch up with us. We just need to stay humble and go again,” he concluded.

Mohammed Salah’s current contract with Liverpool is set to expire in the summer of 2025. He has been in peak form this season, playing a significant role in helping his side maintain their position as Premier League leaders. He has scored 20 goals and provided 17 assists in 26 matches across competitions. He is next set to feature in Liverpool’s upcoming clash against Manchester United. The match will be played at Anfield on January 5.
