More woe for Rangers as goalkeeper Jack Butland is ruled out of Old Firm clash after being admitted to hospital

Rangers goalkeeper Jack Butland will miss the Old Firm clash with Celtic after being admitted to hospital on New Year’s Eve.

The former England No 1 spent the night under medical supervision. Now back home the 31-year-old, who recently became a father again, has been added to a growing list of absentees for Thursday’s visit of Celtic.

Captain James Tavernier had already joined fellow defenders John Souttar and Neraysho Kasanwirjo on the sidelines, with veteran Nigerian international Leon Belogun likely to be rushed back after injury.

Butland’s absence will see Liam Kelly deputise in goal for only the second time since his summer arrival from Motherwell.
