Morning Joe’s Joe Scarborough slammed his fist in rage Monday as he railed against ‘billionaire’ Trump officials for duping ‘working Americans’ into blindly accepting tariffs.
The MSNBC host also called out ‘millionaire talking heads’ on other networks during his impassioned rant, claiming they were taking the country’s current economic situation too lightly by pedaling Trump propaganda – and exploiting everyday Americans.
As US stock futures plunged before trading, Scarborough produced several newspapers as proof such figures were deceiving the American public – including an incendiary headline on Sunday’s Opinion section of The New York Times front page.
‘The World Wakes Up to a New Global Reality,’ it insisted, before Donald Trump and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent would both dismiss concerns the economy is on the verge of a recession later that day.
‘This pretty much sums it up,’ Scarborough, who makes a reported $8million a year, said, before launching his spiel. ‘The economy is deflating… We’re having recessions on every front.
‘We’re gonna be talking a lot about Wall Street,’ he continued, warning viewers of what’s to come. ‘We’re going to be talking about global markets.
‘Today,’ he insisted, ‘you’re going to see billionaires that work in the administration talking on networks that are pretending like there’s nothing to see here.’
Joined by Mika Brzezinski, Scarborough said he was angry with channels like Fox for featuring such figures. He eventually hit his desk to hit his point home, showing frustration over a situation he said was self-induced.

Morning Joe’s Joe Scarborough slammed his fist in rage Monday as he railed against ‘billionaire’ Trump officials for duping ‘working Americans’ into accepting Trump’s tariffs

US stock futures plunged Monday morning – something Scarborough said served as a signal of what’s to come
‘They’re going to be talking to hosts who are millionaires, who are going to be telling middle-class and working-class Americans… “Don’t worry. Nothing to worry about. This had to be done.”
‘And it’s just important that you remember,’ Scarborough urged. ‘[They’re] the ones who are not going to be protected in the end.
‘We learned this in 2008, right?’ he recalled, citing the bailout of banks by the federal government at the time, at the expense of millions of workers.
‘How many bankers went to jail? How many traders went to jail? I think one, maybe,’ he said.
‘So, as we talk about this – and we’re at 30,000 feet talking about the stock market and talking about banks and talking about oil and talking about all the people that are being hurt -those trickle-down effects are going to be felt by working Americans.’
Such citizens, he pointed out, ‘can afford it the least.’
At this point, Scarborough became visibly enraged , slamming his desk several times.
‘And they’re being told by billionaires that there’s nothing to see here,’ he said, hitting his desk

Scarborugh singled out Trump officials such as Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent (left) and Energy Secretary Doug Burgum (right) during his rant, due to both being billionaires
‘They’re being told by millionaire talking heads on other networks: there’s nothing to see here.
‘It’s a war that we had to win – no, no; let’s be very, let’s be very clear here, regardless of how you feel about tariffs – this is a self-induced war that we started. All right? This is voluntary,’ he said.
‘I spent three months after the election warning Republicans they needed to be careful. Three months,’ Scarborough reiterated to close his rant.
‘We’ve got about ten minutes of clips we could play you.’
Meanwhile, the president has remained firm on his stance toward his tariffs, despite some speculation he may move course after substantial losses seen before and after they went into effect last week.
Amid fears of another ‘Black Monday, Bessent’s dismissed concerns about the economy Sunday, as government officials such as Elon Musk and Energy Secretary Dough Burgum continue to support the tariffs as well.
Amid these losses, Americans are preparing for a prospective recession, all while losing chunks of their respective retirement plans.
After the opening bell Monday, markets continued to tumble, opening in bear territory. The Dow fell 1,200 points, or 3.2 percent. The S&P 500 was down 3.4% and opened in bear territory. The Nasdaq Composite slid 3.96 percent.

The host also called out ‘millionaire talking heads’ such as Jesse Watters during his impassioned rant, claiming they were taking the country’s current economic situation too lightly by pedaling propaganda

This is all after the S&P 500 hit a record high less than seven weeks ago, on February 19.
‘The United States has a chance to do something that should have been done DECADES AGO,’ Trump wrote on Truth Social before markets opened Monday.
‘Don’t be Weak! Don’t be Stupid! Don’t be a PANICAN (A new party based on Weak and Stupid people!).
‘Be Strong, Courageous, and Patient, and GREATNESS will be the result!’
