More than two-thirds of voters under 30 believe sex offenders should be castrated in the latest indication of increasingly hardline views among so-called Gen Z.

A Mail on Sunday poll of 18 to 27-year-olds also found they back draconian lockdowns and are more than three times as likely to vote for Nigel Farage’s Reform UK as they are Kemi Badenoch’s Tories.

The survey, by Find Out Now, recorded 67 per cent of them as being in favour of chemically castrating sex offenders and just 24 per cent opposed, reflecting the generation’s tough law-and-order attitude.

Most (53 per cent) also back measures to reduce immigration and 45 per cent support the death penalty.

A total of 62 per cent would support the Government if it announced a lockdown during a Covid-style emergency, despite the crushing effect the last one had on their education and work lives.

Only 6 per cent would back the Tories in an election tomorrow, compared with 19 per cent for Reform UK. Sir Keir Starmer would be backed by 40 per cent.

The survey also shows almost half (47 per cent) rely mostly on social media such as Instagram and TikTok for news and information, compared to 17 per cent of non-Gen Zs.

It comes after an earlier poll claimed more than half of Gen Z believe Britain should be ruled by a dictator and one in three want the Army in charge.

People in the age group are also half as likely to describe themselves as atheists compared to their parents and tend to be puritanical and clean-living, with nearly half of the generation shunning alcohol.

Tyron Surmon, head of research at Find Out Now, said: ‘Gen Z are more Right-wing than you might expect. A quarter say they are satisfied with our democratic system. The Government should take note.’
