England allrounder Sam Curran is back with Chennai Super Kings after the franchise signed him at the IPL mega auction last year. Curran spent a couple of seasons with the five-time IPL champions in 2020 and 2021 before joining Punjab Kings.

Having spent time with the legendary MS Dhoni, Curran says that the former CSK captain is quite approachable and is impressed by his calmness.

“The other night I was batting with MS and Jadeja (Ravindra Jadeja) 11.30 in the evening, I was thinking, where in the world would you do this? The lights were on and we were just smacking balls everywhere. And I was thinking, but you have all the local players around the group, and they just sit there and they just watch MS. It is just the aura of the guy. He is so easy to chat with and I think his calmness, I guess the big moments he’s been involved in. But he never seems to panic,” Curran told Nasser Hussain on Sky Cricket.

Curran revealed how Dhoni keeps the door to his hotel room open and spends free time playing FIFA with his CSK teammates.

“I feel like the emotion on his face, he never really shows too much. And even in the hotel now, the guys always talk about, he leaves his room open, guys go and play FIFA with him, chat cricket and stuff like that. He obviously can’t leave the hotel much because he just gets absolutely mobbed,” Curran said.

Dhoni, a serial trophy winner, won a record three ICC white-ball trophy as India captain besides leading CSK to five IPL titles. He stepped away from captaincy ahead of the last season, handing over the baton to Ruturaj Gaikwad.

Dhoni was retained as an uncapped player by CSK for Rs 4 crore after the introduction of a new IPL rule. The legendary captain retired from international cricket in 2020 and has continued his playing career in IPL.
