Musk warns America will collapse if DOGE does not succeed as he calls on surprising group to play their part

Elon Musk has warned that America could collapse if DOGE does not succeed in its plan to root out and eliminate wasteful spending.

The billionaire Tesla founder has been given sweeping powers to overhaul and purge government departments, sparking mass protests across the nation as Democrats lament his heavy-handed approach.

But in a sit down interview with Fox’s Sean Hannity, Musk and President Donald Trump justified the actions of DOGE with a chilling warning to the general public.

‘America will go bankrupt if this is not done,’ Musk said.

‘If we don’t solve the deficit there won’t be money for medical care, there won’t be money for Social Security.

‘We either solve the deficit or all we’ll be doing is paying debt. It’s got to be solved or there’s no medical care. There’s no Social Security, there’s no nothing.

‘It’s got to be solved. It’s not optional… if the ship of America sinks, we’re all going down with it.’

Musk also addressed a fantasy idea that ‘people can escape to New Zealand or some other place.’

‘If the central pillar of Western civilization, that is America, falls, the whole roof comes crashing down, and there is no escape.’

Musk then called on those who are wealthy to step up and ‘care more about the country’.

‘There’s a lot of rich people out there,’ Musk said.

‘If America falls, what do you think’s gonna happen to your business? What do you think? Do you think you’re gonna be okay if the ship of America sinks?’

Trump has repeatedly praised Musk for the work he’s carrying out with DOGE and doubled down on that in his Hannity interview, saying: ‘It was important for people to understand he’s doing a big job.

‘He’s doing a very thankless job. It’s really a thankless job. But he’s helping us to save our country. Our country is in serious trouble. And I had to get the best guy.’

Labor unions, Democrats and disgruntled federal employees have filed several lawsuits in an effort to stop DOGE or slow its momentum.

White House deputy press secretary Harrison Fields celebrated several DOGE victories by noting that Musk and his ‘nerdy army’ of employees are ‘following the constitution to a T.’

He said: ‘The continued successes in the courts in favor of the Trump administration shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone who has ever read our great Constitution, which clearly lays out the role of the Executive Branch, and which President Trump and his entire administration are following to a T.

‘The resistance campaign can try, but they will continue to fail in their pursuit to rewrite the Constitution and deny the people the legal authority of the President to run the Executive Branch.’

This comes in spite of Musk last week warning ‘lawfare has gotten out of control’ amid the ongoing legal battles.

Musk and Trump maintain they’ve got a great working relationship despite external forces trying to ‘drive them apart.’

In the most recent example of collaborative efforts between the President and his First Buddy, Trump signaled he is considering Musk’s pitch to give American taxpayers a ‘DOGE dividend’ amid ongoing efforts to claw back missing billions.

On Tuesday, Musk vowed to ‘check with the president’ after investment firm CEO James Fishback suggested giving taxpayers a slice of the savings in the form of a tax refund.

Trump responded on Wednesday to confirm he was weighing its benefits, which Fishback had calculated could result in every taxpayer receiving $5,000.

Speaking from Miami Beach, Trump said: ‘There’s even under consideration a new concept where we give 20 per cent of the DOGE savings to American citizens.’

He said another 20 percent would go toward ‘paying down debt.’

‘The numbers are incredible, Elon, so many billions – hundreds of billions – and we’re thinking about giving 20 percent back to the American citizens,’ he added.

If it goes ahead, the policy has the potential to put thousands of dollars back into the pockets of taxpayers at a time when rising costs are making it increasingly difficult for middle Americans to stay afloat.
