Six people have been injured after a house was destroyed amid a mysterious fireball explosion in a ritzy Texas neighborhood on Sunday morning.
Austin Fire Department said crews rushed to the scene in Sette Tierra at 11.23am after the two-story property detonated and a car parked outside burst into flames.
The fiery blast was so powerful that 24 homes were damaged in total, while residents 20 miles away in Georgetown reported hearing the sonic boom.
Videos showing the aftermath showed the home was completely destroyed. Austin Fire Department extricated several people from the rubble.
Six people suffered injuries, including two people from the exploded home, two from the house next door, and two firefighters who responded at the scene.
Two residents are in critical conditions, while one is in a serious but stable condition, Austin County EMS public information officer Shannon Koesterer said.
Koesterer added that a fourth resident suffered minor injuries but refused to be taken to hospital.

One firefighter was treated at the scene, while the other was taken to hospital in a stable condition.
Koesterer said the victims have suffered ‘anything from burns to fractures to the explosion’.
Austin Fire Department identified the impacted homes as 10410 and 10412 on Double Spur Loop in the northern Austin neighborhood.
It’s unclear which of the homes exploded and which suffered secondary damage. The cause of the horror blast is under investigation.
Division Chief of the Austin Fire Department Wayne Parrish said he believes all residents have been accounted for as he described the devastation.
‘When we arrived on scene, they found a two-story home that looked like it had suffered an explosion. It was leveled to the ground,’ Parrish told a press conference.
‘A neighboring house had also suffered severe collapse damage. Initial reports also indicated that there was a vehicle fire at the address of the exploded home.’
