Nakuul Mehta highlighted Vinesh Phogat’s worth in his poem adding that she does not need gold or silver to define her exemplary power.
Television star Nakuul Mehta is proud of Vinesh Phogat’s unwavering resilience and dedication. Although he was heartbroken due to the retirement announcement by the wrestler, he dropped a post commemorating the wrestler’s struggle in the last few months. The post captured the actor reciting a poem reflecting on Vinesh’s sportsman spirit and strength. Dropping the post, he wrote, “Fighter. Olympian. Champion. A poem dedicated to one of our all time greatest. The one and only Vinesh Phogat.”
Nakuul Mehta’s poem dedicated to Vinesh Phogat begins as “Vinesh agar tumhe ladta na dekha hota, Jantar Mantar ke maidano se le kar Paris ke akhando tak. Shayad Kabhi na jaan paate ye sone or chandi ke tamge itne beimaani hai. Inme vo chamak kahan jo tere jazbe, teri kuwat mein hai (If we hadn’t seen you fight, from the grounds of Jantar Mantar to the arenas of Paris, we might never have realized how deceitful these gold and silver medals are. They lack the brilliance of your spirit and strength).”
As Nakuul Mehta continued to shower praises on the wrestler in his poem, he highlighted her worth adding that she does not need gold or silver to define her exemplary power. The television actor concluded the poem with “Cheer up champion, range aate jaate rahenge, humara asli sona toh tum ho. Olympic ki sheet mein tumhara naam darz nahi hua toh kya hua, aane wali pidiya yaad rakhegi kya khoob ladi mardaani (Cheer up, champion. Medals will come and go, but our true treasure is you. So what if your name isn’t recorded in the Olympic records? Future generations will remember how fiercely you fought).”
Vinesh Phogat announced her retirement from wrestling following her disqualification from the Paris Olympics 2024. The disqualification was in the view of her excessive weight of 100 grams in the 50 kg freestyle wrestling category. Her decision left many heartbroken, with Nakuul Mehta also joining them to express his disappointment. Sharing a screenshot of Vinesh Phogat’s retirement post on his Instagram stories, he added a broken heart emoji.
Work-wise, Nakuul Mehta will next be seen hosting the upcoming show Crime Patrol. Following his debut in 2012 with the hit serial Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara, the actor went on to win hearts with his role as Shivaay Singh Oberoi in Ishqbaaaz and Ram Kapoor in Bade Acche Lagte Hain 2.
