Double Olympic medallist Neeraj Chopra clinched the title at the Golden Spike meet on Tuesday in his maiden appearance, marking his successive victory in a top-tier competition.
Fresh from his Paris Diamond League win on June 20, Neeraj emerged victorious in a field of nine with a modest effort of 85.29m at the World Athletics Continental Tour Gold event.
Neeraj had missed the last two editions of the Golden Spike, an event his coach, Jan Zelezny, won nine times in his celebrated career, because of fitness problems.
Neeraj has had a brilliant season, winning his first Diamond League title in two years in Paris and going past the elusive 90m mark during his second-place finish in the Doha Diamond League last month.
