Legendary Indian chess player Viswanathan Anand was seen on Thursday shaking a leg to Amitabh Bachchan’s legendary ‘Main Hu Don’ song as he enjoyed himself at Vidit Gujrathi’s wedding function, with the latter getting married earlier this week.
Known for his calm and composed behaviour, Anand surprised everyone with his energetic performance.
As the music played, Anand danced to the rhythm, bagging loud cheers and thunderous claps from the guests. Watch the video here:
In the video, Anand can be seen dancing with Vidit, with Dutch chess grandmaster Anish Giri also shaking a leg in the background.
Anand continues to be a massive figure in the chess world, holding his place as one of its greatest players ever.
Earlier this year, Anand hosted a special Pongal gathering at his residence, welcoming some of India’s top chess talents, including R Praggnanandhaa, current world champion D Gukesh, and Vidit.
Soon after that get-together, Anand shared a short clip on his social media handles, capturing the fun moments from that day.
Anand showed his acting skills besides Gukesh in a new, fun advertisement as well. The advertisement, which takes a funny look at generational differences, features Gukesh as a Gen Alpha persona, while Anand plays the traditional, out-of-sync individual who has no idea of the latest social media trends.
Vidit is number 25 in the world on the live rating list and his wife Nidhi, 28, is a homeopathic doctor.
An extended clip of Anand’s performance can also see Gukesh, Anish and Tania Sachdeva dancing at the function.

Meanwhile, Anish and his wife, International Master Sopiko Guramishvili, travelled from the Netherlands and arrived in advance to go shopping for festive clothing.
After winning the gruelling, three-day qualifier in March, Vidit has now earned a spot in the Freestyle Chess Grand Slam Paris, which begins on Monday.
