A doctor in Mount Sinai, also known as Jabal Musa, was reportedly fired after one of her posts on social media created a stir. According to a report with the New York Post, the doctor, identified as Lila Abassi, praised the atrocities by Hamas and hailed the group as “noble resistance and freedom fighters”.
Abassi worked as an assistant professor of medicine at the Upper East Side hospital, New Yorand her post, earlier this month, caught the attention following a probe into a series of disturbing online posts, the report quoted a spokesperson of the hospital she worked at, as saying.
The 46-year-old doctor wrote a series of posts, mentioning, “Long Live Hamas & Hezbollah,” according to the report.
She also labelled the army a “plague”, accused Israel of “slaughtering babies,” and rejected reports of rape during the October 7, 2023 attack that left 1,200 Israelis dead and thousands injured.
“Please show me actual rape video,” Abassi wrote in a Facebook doctors group, using the pseudonym “Kluver Bucy”, the name for a rare brain disorder that affects memory and behavior and may cause eating disorders, hypersexuality, seizures and dementia.
The report quoted City Councilwoman Inna Vernikov (R-Brooklyn) as saying that she stressed to the hospital that Abbasi deleting her account would not lessen her support for terrorists, or make Jewish patients feel more safe in her care.
Vernikov told the publication that she had pushed for further action against the doctor after learning that the hateful doc initially only received a slap on the wrist by deleting her social media account.
The hospital initiated a probe that ultimately resulted in her dismissal, according to a Mt. Sinai spokeswoman.
