Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak has been linked with a sensational transfer to Liverpool. The Swedish international reportedly informed Newcastle of his desire to “explore a move away” after missing the club’s pre-season tour of Asia due to injury.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claimed that Isak has made Liverpool his priority and has no interest in joining clubs like Al Hilal, Chelsea, or Manchester United. This has intensified speculation that the 24-year-old could be pushing for a move to Anfield.

Liverpool Interested but Cautious
Journalist Paul Joyce of The Times confirmed Liverpool’s interest in Isak but explained that the situation is complicated. Newcastle’s current stance is clear — Isak is not for sale.
Joyce said unless Newcastle change their position, Liverpool will “remain admirers from afar.” Despite this, Liverpool reportedly approached Newcastle last week to check on Isak’s availability.
Huge Price Tag Could Block Deal
Reports suggest Liverpool initially proposed a deal worth between £120 million and £130 million. However, Newcastle are believed to value Isak at around £150 million, meaning Liverpool would have to pay a record fee to secure his signature.
Even if Newcastle agree to sell under player pressure, the £150 million price tag could make the transfer difficult. This would make Isak one of the most expensive players in Premier League history.
Liverpool’s Busy Transfer Window
Liverpool have already spent close to £300 million this summer, signing Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, Freddie Woodman, Armin Pecsi and Hugo Ekitike. The club is focusing on strengthening its attack and midfield to defend their Premier League title.
Apart from Isak, Liverpool have been linked with Real Madrid forward Rodrygo, Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, and Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon.

What Happens Next?
For now, Newcastle remain firm on keeping Isak. But with the player reportedly keen on a move to Anfield, the coming weeks could see fresh negotiations. Liverpool must decide whether to meet Newcastle’s huge asking price or explore other attacking options.
