West Ham have set a price tag of £90 million for Kudus, while the Ghanaian has a summer release clause of £85 million.

Newcastle United have reportedly joined the race to secure the signature of West Ham United star Mohammed Kudus. The 24-year-old winger has attracted interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs this season. He has been constantly linked with a move to either Arsenal or Liverpool.
Now reports claiming Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe is keen on bringing the young winger to St James Park have emerged. The Magpies coach is reportedly a huge fan of Kudus and is ready to challenge Arsenal and Liverpool to secure his signature in the January transfer window.
Newcastle United scouts have monitored Kudus since his teenage years with Danish side FC Nordsjaelland. They have shown interest in the 24-year-old well before his move to the London Stadium from Ajax in a deal worth £38 million. They are eager to add more quality to their attack by bringing in a right-sided player and the versatile Kudus fits the bill perfectly.
West Ham have set a price tag of £90 million for Kudus. He has a summer release clause of £85 million. Should the 24-year-old arrive at St James Park, he would eclipse the club’s transfer record set in 2022 when Alexander Isak joined for a fee of £63 million.
While Newcastle United are looking to add a new striker to their lineup, Howe said that the club’s manoeuvrability in the market is currently constrained. They must comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules by creating sales in January to facilitate Kudus’ transfer.
He spoke about the club’s situation to the media last week. “I keep saying the same thing about January – I wouldn’t expect us to be in a position to be too active in the market. As we currently stand up, things can change. You know, if we trade players, of course, that’s different, but if we don’t trade players, I would expect us to be quiet,” he said as per Newcastle United’s official website.
Newcastle United had to offshore Elliot Anderson for £35 million and Yankuba Minteh for £30 million in June to comply with Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules. They will now look to sell their 30-year-old winger Miguel Almiron in the upcoming transfer window. The Paraguay international is one of the prime candidates to leave the club this season.
