In a shocking incident, a 38-year-old woman in Brazil, who was working as a caregiver, was allegedly strangled by her co-worker whom she refused to kiss. According to media reports, the woman’s body was found on a property next to the house where she worked in Goiania, Brazil on November 5, a day after she was killed.
Notably, Cintia Ribeiro Barbosa and Marcelo Junior Bastos Santos worked as caregivers for the elderly in a home in the Cidade Jardim neighbourhood.
Police investigations revealed that suspect, Bastos Santos, confessed to the crime, stating that he strangled Cintia Ribeiro Barbosa after she refused his kiss and slapped him.
The mother of four, who married just eight days before this horrific incident, was killed after her co-worker Bastos Santos reportedly used a chokehold to strangle her. As per g1, the suspect allegedly also used diaper tape to tie Ribeiro’s hand and threw her body into an unoccupied property after she died.
The woman’s body was later discovered after authorities launched an investigation into her disappearance on her husband’s missing report. The man stated that he took his wife to work, but that she had not returned home and was not answering his calls.
During the investigation, the police identified the suspect on reviewing the security camera footage. Police chief Carlos Alfama explained, “The suspect thought the victim had died and went to another room. Suddenly, he realised that she had regained consciousness and was trying to run away. He then grabbed Cintia and allegedly strangled her again with masking tape.”
The police further informed that the others present in the house were the bedridden elderly couple, who required assistance to move, making it impossible for them to be involved. “He confessed to the crime in detail and confirmed what the security cameras also showed us,” Police chief Carlos Alfama said.
