Nikitin Dheer On Winning ITA Award For Playing Ravan: ‘Feels Great In Every Way’

Nikitin Dheer is widely known for his memorable roles as Thangabali in Chennai Express and the antagonist in Salman Khan’s Ready. But it was his portrayal of Ravan in the mythological series Srimad Ramayan that left a lasting impact on viewers. Nikitin’s performance in the role garnered widespread praise, culminating in an award at the Indian Television Academy (ITA) Awards. In a recent interview, Nikitin opened up about his love for the character.

In a conversation with Filmibeat, Nikitin Dheer shared his excitement about his ITA Award win for his portrayal of Ravan. He said, “It feels like it has come a whole circle, from that first meeting in Sidharth Tewary’s house to holding the award on stage and people calling out Ravan. Feels great in every way when the hard work, sweat and blood pay off and are appreciated by the audience.”

Nikitin Dheer will soon make his debut in the Punjabi film industry with Akaal. Speaking about the project, he said, “The fact that it’s being made by Gippy Grewal and Humble Pictures, which is the biggest name in Punjab, and the fact that it’s a very powerful and intense character was very appealing. Akaal comes this April and I am looking forward to it.” The movie also stars Nimrat Khaira, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Prince Kanwaljit Singh and Mita Vashisht.

During the interview, Nikitin Dheer also revealed that he is currently working on a “fun OTT project” but remains open to television opportunities. He said he believed that “no actor is greater than the medium” and mentioned that there are many stories that are better suited for television or OTT platforms. If he comes across a truly great narrative, he is eager to pursue it on TV.
