Reddy crossed the 50-run mark for the first time in Test cricket on Saturday by scoring a boundary on the 81st ball of his innings.
Nitish Kumar Reddy ended his long wait for a maiden Test fifty for India on Saturday, December 28. The right-handed batting all-rounder from Andhra came out to bat at No. 8 for the Rohit Sharma-led side in the ongoing fourth Test against Australia, which is currently underway at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, and slammed his maiden Test fifty. The 21-year-old cricketer, who has impressed with his batting performances in the ongoing series, crossed the 50-run mark with a boundary on the 81st ball of his innings, which was bowled by Mitchell Starc.
After completing his maiden Test half-century in his sixth inning, Reddy came up with an epic celebration, the video of which is now going viral on the internet. The talented youngster followed the ongoing trend of the movie Pushpa and celebrated his fifty by doing the Pushpa celebration.

Nitish slammed four fours and one six to score his maiden Test fifty and has also added more than 60 runs for the eighth wicket with Washington Sundar to help India successfully avoid the follow-on for the second match in a row.
Reddy’s scores in 2024-25 BGT
Reddy, who earned a place in the Indian team after his superb batting performances in IPL 2024 for Sunrisers Hyderabad, scored 41 runs in his first Test innings for India at Optus Stadium in Perth on November 22, 2024. He remained unbeaten on 38 runs in the second innings of that match, which India won by 295 runs inside four days to take a 1-0 lead in the ongoing series.
In the second Test once again, Reddy top-scored for India, this time in both innings. He scored 42 runs from 54 balls (3 fours, 3 sixes) in the first inning and 42 runs from 47 balls (6 fours, 1 six) in the second.
There were question marks over his place in the playing XI for the Boxing Day Test due to his limited contribution with the ball in the three matches played so far, but the team management kept faith in him and retained him in the playing XI, and on Saturday, he has lived up to the expectations by keeping India alive in the Test match and also the series.
