Several rounds of meetings have been held so far between the AAP and the Congress but the announcement of candidates by Kejriwal’s party suggests talks have remained inconclusive

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday released a list of 20 candidates for the assembly elections in Haryana, suggesting that the party would not enter into any alliance with the Congress.

AAP Haryana chief Sushil Gupta said that the party “waited honestly” for the alliance with Congress and added that it would release the second list soon.

As per the party’s list, the AAP has fielded its Haryana unit vice president, Anurag Dhanda, from Kalayat, while Indu Sharma has been from Bhiwani.

Vikas Nehra has been fielded from Meham and Bijender Hooda from Rohtak.

The talks between the AAP and the Congress had been stuck over the number of seats to be contested by the AAP, with the Arvind Kejriwal-led party demanding 10 seats and the Congress offering five.

‘We Waited Honestly…’: AAP On Alliance With Congress

AAP Haryana chief Sushil Gupta said that his party is ready to fight the elections in the state.

“We’ve released the first list of candidates and soon you will get the second list. There is very little time left for the elections. We waited honestly (for the alliance) because the organisation is strong in every assembly and that strong organization wanted us to contest the elections. We have shown our patience and after that, we released our list. We were a partner of the INDIA Alliance. We are a partner of INDIA alliance at the national level,” he said.

Earlier today, the AAP’s Haryana chief, Sushil Gupta, had said his party will declare candidates for all 90 seats by today evening if the Congress fails to finalise an alliance with it.

Gupta also told news agency PTI that every worker of the AAP in Haryana is ready to strongly contest all the 90 assembly seats.

Elections to the Haryana assembly are scheduled to be held on October 5 and the results will be declared on October 8.

The last date for filing nominations is September 12.
