RCB’s post on X has certainly rubbed salt to the wounds of Rohit Sharma and his fans across the world

RCB’s poster for 5th IND vs AUS Test doesn’t feature Rohit Sharma

It was a heartbreaking moment for Rohit Sharma fans when they got to know that the Indian skipper won’t be participating in the fifth Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, starting Friday in Sydney. Multiple media reports claimed that Rohit will be rested in the final fixture of the series and will be replaced by Jasprit Bumrah. If the reported developments take place on Friday, Rohit will be the first captain in the Indian cricket history to be dropped in an ongoing bilateral series.

Meanwhile, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) put out a post on microblogging site X that triggered the ongoing drama. The franchise released a poster of the firth Test which had Virat Kohli in the front with KL Rahul and Jasprit Bumrah on either side.

“Time for the final clash Down Under,” the caption of the picture read.

The absence of Rohit Sharma in the poster sparked outrage in the comment sections. While Rohit’s fans hit back at the franchise, the RCB fans lauded the franchise’s social media for taking a jibe at Rohit, who plays for the rival Mumbai Indians in the IPL.

Ever since he landed Down Under, Rohit the batter has been battered by extra bounce and seam movement and Rohit the skipper has been left bruised by the scathing criticism of his leadership. And as the tour draws to a close, his career as a Test cricketer seems headed for a dispiriting climax.
