Speculations surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo’s potential return to the Premier League have been rife with the legendary footballer’s contract with Al-Nassr set to expire in the summer of 2025. Ronaldo had previously had two stints in the Premier League, plying his trade for Manchester United on both occasions.
Ronaldo’s former Manchester United teammate Louis Saha recently talked about the Portuguese legend’s future. “I don’t know if Ronaldo will come back to the Premier League, because there’s nothing that you can predict with this guy, so it’s hard to know for sure. Who would have said he would have scored that amount of goals by now? This guy is chasing 1000. I don’t know what to say,” Saha said when asked by Casino Utan Spelpaus, as per Goal.
“Ronaldo has eyes on the stuff that normal people don’t have. I would still think that whatever he’s got in his mind, he’s capable of doing it because he’s obsessed. Perhaps a chairman wants to take a chance on him. There are still a lot of things that Ronaldo can do – he’s ageing like a fine wine,” Saha added.
Following his move to Saudi Arabia, Ronaldo became the world’s highest-paid athlete, for the first time since 2017. Ronaldo brought his first stint at Manchester United to an end having decided to sign for Real Madrid in 2009. In 2021, he left Juventus and arrived once again at Old Trafford.
During his second stint at Manchester United, Ronaldo had over seven months remaining on his £500,000-a-week contract when his exit became imminent. His immediate exit was “mutually agreed” after he gave a bombshell interview to Piers Morgan for TalkTV.
Earlier this year, Ronaldo achieved a historic feat having become the first men’s player in the history of football to net 900 goals in official matches. The 39-year-old reached the milestone having found the back of the net for Portugal in their UEFA Nations League game against Croatia. Portugal went on to win the contest by a margin of two goals to one.
In December 2021, Ronaldo became the first player to score 800 goals. Ronaldo scored two goals in Manchester United’s 3-2 win against Arsenal to get past the 800-goal mark.
