A 12-year-old boy in Ohio died after being allegedly forced into ice baths as sick form of ‘corporal punishment.’
Anthony McCants, 23, has been charged with felony child endangerment following the death of Jadako Taylor in Akron.
Police responded to a report of a heart attack at 2.30pm on Saturday.
Taylor was transported to Akron Children’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
According to a criminal complaint obtained by KGNS, McCants forced Taylor into two ice baths 45 minutes before his death.
McCants and Taylor’s relationship remains unclear, but it is said McCants was ‘known to the family,’ KGNS reported.
Between 5am and 2pm, McCants allegedly forced Taylor into the ice baths for more than 30 minutes each time.
The first ice bath was allegedly 45 minutes long, People reported.

A family member posted on Facebook: ‘I usually have a lot to say but this has taken my air. I had just made you pizza and then a few hours later you are gone… I don’t have any answers so please don’t ask… Jadako is Angel and will be forever missed’
In between the ice baths, Taylor was allegedly forced to do pushups and more strenuous physical activity before he vomited and seized, according to the complaint.
Taylor’s body temperature reached a low of 74 degrees Fahrenheit, which is 21 degrees below than when hypothermia occurs in the body at 95 degrees.
‘First responders arrived on scene and discovered a 12-year-old boy unresponsive and McCants’ treatment of Taylor was described as ‘corporal punishment,’ the complaint alleged.

McCants was arrested on Saturday at around 4pm, roughly 15 minutes after Taylor was pronounced dead, according to jail records.
He is currently being held in the Summit County Jail and has a bond set of $500,000, according to online records.
A court date is yet to be set.
The Summit County Medical Examiner did not immediately respond to DailyMail.com’s request for further information.
