OnePlus Open 2 is likely to give Honor and Google a tough fight
OnePlus Open was a promising start by the company last year but the stakes are higher now and it needs more upgrades to justify existing in 2024.
OnePlus Open 2 launch is expected sooner rather than later. And according to reports this week, the Open 2 will be thinner and lighter than the original OnePlus foldable. Brands like Vivo and Honor have established the standard for compact foldable phones, and OnePlus appears to be attempting to equal or exceed these expectations. A thinner foldable phone improves portability and convenience.
As per tipster named Digital Chat Station, OnePlus is working on developing a substantially smaller design for the next Open 2, with a device thickness of 9.Xmm, making it the market’s thinnest foldable phone.
It will be easy to carry and use, appealing to those who desire a lightweight and portable smartphone. Samsung previously controlled the foldable category but it is now facing fierce competition from others.
The Honor Magic V2, with its elegant book-style design, is currently the slimmest foldable phone. While official thickness measures for the Open 2 have yet to be confirmed, OnePlus’ focus on size reduction might position the company as a formidable contender in the foldable phone market.
In addition to the compact factor, the OnePlus Open 2 is expected to include upgraded photography capabilities. Reports say the phone would include a strong triple-camera system, with a 50MP Sony sensor at its centre. This high-resolution camera is supposed to produce sharp, detailed photographs, improving the device’s photography capabilities.
Furthermore, it may incorporate a periscope camera with superior zoom capabilities for shooting distant things. This upgrade would transform the Open 2 into a versatile camera phone, appealing to people who value photography in their smartphones.
The gadget is also expected to maintain the big, circular camera array design of its predecessor, which is identifiable to OnePlus enthusiasts. This design continuity would offer the Open 2 a familiar but fresh appearance.
If these reports are genuine, the OnePlus Open 2 might provide a compelling combination of innovative design and improved camera capabilities, potentially creating a new market standard for foldable phones.
