The Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday congratulated US President Donald Trump ahead of his inauguration ceremony. The Russian President said he remains “open to dialogue” while wishing Trump as he returns to the White House for the second time.
He also said he wishes for “lasting peace” in Ukraine during his presidency. Trump has previously said that once he takes office he will try to put an end to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.
“We are also open to dialogue with the new US administration on the Ukrainian conflict,” Putin said in televised remarks, congratulating Trump on his upcoming inauguration. Any settlement should ensure “lasting peace based on respect for the legitimate interests of all people”, he added.
