Israeli troops operating in south Lebanon have found large amounts of Russian arms in Hezbollah’s possession, as per a Wall Street Journal report. Many of the weapons were originally owned by the Syrian military, which has been supplied by Russia for years, as per the WSJ report. It is unclear exactly how the weapons reached the Iran-backed Lebanese militant group. However, the WSJ report claims that these weapons were transported from Russia, through Syria, and into southern Lebanon in recent years. Notably, both Russia and Hezbollah fought on the side of Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad in the Syrian civil war.
