A Pakistan groundstaff slipped and fell in an attempt to mop water from the outfield during the Australia vs Afghanistan match at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, a video of which has gone viral on social media.
While super soppers are the usual technique used for mopping off large amounts of water, the ground staff in Lahore used giant moppers for the purpose.
While doing so, one of the ground staff slipped and fell on the field. Watch the video here:
“I have seen this sport. I think it’s curling,” Abhinav Mukund said while speaking on air.
“Along with curling, what we are also seeing is falling,” quipped Sanjay Manjrekar.
The cameras then panned to the Australian dressing room, who were taken aback by the unusual measures adopted by the Lahore ground staff. All the efforts bore no fruit as the umpires felt that the conditions weren’t suitable to restart the game.
“1 hour of rain causes a full ICC ODI match to be abandoned. such poor drainage. Pakistan has just a few stadiums,” a user tweeted after the match was called off.

“There is no drainage in Pakistan’s grounds. Didn’t ICC check before? Half an hour of rain can cancel the whole match here,” another user tweeted.
