India’s medal winning spree continued on Friday, grabbing the 17th place on the tally with a total of 27 medals in the kitty.

The 9th day of the ongoing Paralympic Games saw India extending its medal tally to 26/27 with the 6th gold and 12th bronze medals. High jumper Praveen Kumar clinched the yellow metal, setting a new Asian record of 2.08m in the T64 category.

40-year-old Hokato Hotozhe Sema from Nagaland won the bronze medal in men’s shot put F57 with a personal best throw of 14.65 meters.

Visually impaired sprinter Simran entered the 200m (T12) semifinals after clocking 25.41sec to top her heat race. She is the reigning world champion in 200m and is accompanied by her guide Abhay Singh in the event. On Thursday, Simran had missed out on a medal, in the women’s 100m, finishing fourth with a timing of 12.31 seconds in the four-player final.

Indian canoers Prachi Yadav and Yash Kumar qualified for the semifinals of women’s VL2 200m and men’s KL1 200m events after finishing fourth and sixth in their respective heat.

India’s Dipesh Kumar finished last in the final of the men’s javelin throw F54 event. The 19-year-old finished at the bottom in a seven-man field with a best throw of 26.11m.

Para Athletics: Praveen Kumar clinched gold in Men’s High Jump T64 with a season-best throw of 39.70 metres

Para Athletics: Hokato Hotozhe Sema won a bronze medal in Men’s Shot Put – F57 with a Personal Best throw of 14.65 meters.

Para Athletics: Soman Rana finished fifth in Men’s Shot Put – F57 with a best throw of 14.07 meters.

Para Canoe: Yash finished 6th in his Heat with a timing of 1:03.27. He advanced to semis.

Para Canoe: Prachi Yadav made it to the semis after finishing 4th in Heat 1 with a timing of 1:06.83.

Para Canoe: Pooja Ojha qualified for the semis after finishing 5th in Heat 2 with the timing of 1:16.09.

Para Athletics: Dilip Gavit was through to the Final with a season-best timing of 49.54 seconds.

Para Athletics: Dipesh Kumar suffered a heartbreak as he finished 7th in the Men’s Javelin Throw F54 Final with a best throw of 26.11m.

Para Athletics: Simran Sharma cruised into the final after finishing 1st in the Women’s 200 M T12 Semifinals with a timing of 25.03 seconds.

Para Athletics: Bhavanaben Chaudhary unable to finish on the podium as she ended 5th in the Women’s Javelin Throw F46 Final with a season-best throw of 39.70 metres.

Para Powerlifting: Kasthuri Rajamani’s campaign ended as she finished 8th with a best lift of 106 kg.
