The Delhi Police on Thursday registered an FIR against Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi accusing him of physically assaulting two BJP MPs during a clash in the Parliament premises. The complaint was filed on the basis of the complaint filed by BJP MPs Hemang Joshi, Anurag Thakur and Bansuri Swaraj.
According to sources, the Delhi Police has taken a legal opinion regarding the matter since Rahul Gandhi is a Lok Sabha member.
It has been learnt that several sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) have been imposed against Rahul Gandhi.
The development took place hours after dramatic visuals emerged from Parliament after a massive showdown between the BJP and Congress MPs over Home Minister Amit Shah’s “Ambedkar is the fashion” quip in the Rajya Sabha.
The protests and counterprotests by BJP and Opposition leaders over Ambedkar row led to injuries to two BJP MPs – Pratap Chandra Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput. The injured MPs are currently being treated at the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.
