The monsoon session of Parliament will commence on July 21 and continue till August 12, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju informed on Wednesday. Both Houses of the Parliament are scheduled to convene the session on July 21, after a break of over three months.

The Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs, chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, has recommended the dates for the session, the Union minister said.

Rijiju informed that the discussion over Operation Sindoor will take place during the session. “Every session is special and we will discuss all issues, including Operation Sindoor,” the Union Minister said, adding, “Government wants everyone to be taken onboard – we have approached the Opposition and are hopeful that everyone takes a united stand.”

Notably, under the rules, all issues can be discussed during the Monsoon session, Rijiju said.

The date announcement of the Monsoon session comes just as Opposition leaders are demanding a special Parliament session at the earliest to discuss Operation Sindoor, India’s military strike against terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

The Budget session of the Parliament, which began on January 31, was adjourned sine die on April 4, concluding the first Parliament session of 2025.
